Why Facestabs Happen

Recommended Posts

From a non-technical view, basically, magic. *snort snort*

It's great to see it from all perspectives, though.

Sounds like having the lowest interp possible would give someone a substantial advantage. Nice to know what it does at least.

Competitive players swear by lower interp values.

From experience though, a higher interp means the client does magic, at the cost of client-side prediction pretty much screwing you over. Playing Sniper with cl_interp at .5 seems to lead to more successful headshots while making you more susceptible to projectile fire.

For more detailed information, refer to this SUF post and Valve Developer Wiki article about the technicals of the stuff and this SUF post about a sniper landing more headshots with the highest possible interp value.

I'm still trying to grasp how Lange registers that shot, though.

Well that's silly. Kind of want to try changing my interp though as per Pika's post and see what happens.

I'm definitely gonna try and see if I notice a change.

Though nothing can make me a 'better' sniper.
