but you unlock the movie by getting the true end anyways, the Konami code is to unlock it earlier. I think

Question for those who beat the game. What are you doing now?

Filling out the journal?

ng+?

trying new strategies for the boss fights you can still do? <-- me

fighting the lvl 99 nemesis for uneartly buns? <-- me again

stopped playing?

Breeding murkrows because I burned myself out.

Also:

Spoiler:

I don't feel like playing ng+ since we did purify the crystals FIVE times for the true ending. While the final battle was worth it, it still felt like excessive amounts of padding.

I never do a New Game (or New Game+ in this case) right after playing a JRPG. A JRPG is 60+ hours long if you try to get all the content (which I usually do). I'll usually give it a while before I do a second playthrough, maybe do another from my ridiculous backlog of games I never finished.

Still, I'd enjoy a NG+. Playing the game with all of the Jobs unlocked (at the starting level) should make for an interesting new beginning. And this time, I won't grind every Job for everybody anymore.

Is it just me or is the Black Mage really bad? even with the highest level magic and increased mag atck?  I never found any use for it that much.

I made Ringading a Black Mage at the beginning of the game and haven't changed him since. Exploiting elemental weaknesses makes things 5x easier.

Arcanist/Black Mage is usually the way to go. It's great for grinding and clearing out groups of enemies while Braved, but against a boss, I definitely prefer exploiting weaknesses with Sword Fencer better. Only hits one target, but it sure is effective.

9999 meteor damage + free lunch is how I lazily beat the game.

I dont find black mage as a main class to be all that great.

black resonance doesnt do anything unless you have the others using it as well. max 1.2 damage boost isnt that great for the amount of sp used.

even as a secondary, there are probably better options.

arcanist mostly focuses on status effects so B/W magic from red mage is better imo as you still have sleep/poison as well as raise/esuna/cura

the support abilities you can get from black mages aren't that bad

matk up 20%, pierce mdef and group-cast All all have their uses

if you do want to keep using black mage

Phantom weapon + two handed is probably the best way to boost a black mages matk while keeping armor

otherwise use natural talent + phantom + knuckle lore for glass cannon mage

I'm pretty late, but I've actually just almost finished Chapter 7.

And you know what?

Spoiler:

I thought I'd hate repeating the world again several times, but I don't. I actually honestly don't.

On World 2, when repeating the area was fresh, it was cool. I had no idea why it was happening, and it was great to fight the bosses again with what I knew (especially the Ninja where I got to save everybody).

On World 3, I got to know a little bit more about the asterisk-holders through their backstory. Also, since I turned off the encounter 100%, I didn't have to worry about slowing down because doing the boss fights are really really fun.

On World 4 (Chapter 7), it got even more interesting since the world is completely different. Til is alive, Olivia is alive, but the main characters are all dead. The Conjurer sidequest is one of the best sidequests in the game and it was actually honestly kind of heartbreaking see the main characters interact with the people they love but never get to stay with.

Yes, it is disappointing that there are no new dungeons and very little in terms of new enemies, but my interest was especially brought back in when Ringabel's memories had returned. At that point, it was basically like watching Steins;Gate again, except in videogame form. This story is basically Final Fantasy I, except it makes sense.

I only play a small amount each day, but I seriously can't wait to see the ending.

EDIT: I still have no idea what the Conjurer is good for.

EDIT: I still have no idea what the Conjurer is good for.

Main class:

it is great at self buffing and is able to use all weapons decently.

its inate passive of steady mp recovery is amazing, and allows for sustained skill/spell usage

works well as a caster

Secondary class:

meh, i prefer performer as it can buff the entire party

but it can buff crit rate the fastest

Notable Support abilities:

lvl2 - Steady mp recovery : Best mp management ability aside from free lunch, costs only 1 sp

lvl 9 - obliterate: kills anything 20 lvls lower than you at the start of the battle and you still get all the exp/money, grinding ability

lvl14 - exp up: no need to explain

Yeah, Steady MP Recovery is the only good move I seem to actually care about from its ability list. Performer's just a better EVERYTHING because (1) it hits all characters and (2) I'm Elvis.

Also finally managed to Send a good special attack. Called it 'Hokuto Shinken' with a power of 73546.

Yeah, the game kind of felt like a chore to complete,

Spoiler:
especially since each world is just the same thing over and over and over (though I do like the Chapter 8 optional boss fights).

I am hoping for a good story in Bravely Second though, one that at least keeps me interested for the entire game. I think they nailed the game mechanic, so if they at least balance some stuff up, and greatly improve the story, I'm 100% for it.

I've actually heard they've heard the complaints about the first game and hope to address them, so hopefully that's true. I really enjoyed Bravely Default when I first started, but it was just dragging on by the time I got done with chapter 3.

a few of updates:

Info on Agnes and a new city

Supercell's Ryo is in charge of music now

New writers in charge of the story

Not sure how i feel about Ryo replacing Revo. Ryo did make some really popular Hatsune Miku songs but i really liked Revo's/Linked Horizon's work in Bravely Default.

Wasn't the guy's A-material, but I thought it was good. Shame, since he wrote Steins;Gate, which is probably THE best sci-fi story I've ever read/watched/played. I was really hoping for something along that line.
