Watch the first episode of RWBY Volume 3.

I definitely dig the new animation. The characters are not only more fluid, their facial and body animations have really taken up a notch. Looks like Blake has stopped being a complete emo after taking care of Torchwick in Volume 2, though I'm assuming she'll be back to that once Adam re-enters the picture. But for winning their first fight, there's much to be happy about.

Spoiler:
Those two dudes in their opponent's team is so useless. I know they're throwaways, but at least let them get a fight in.
Spoiler:
I'm surprised Yang and Weiss were their tag-team representative, but pleasantly so. Usually it's Yang-Blake and Ruby/Weiss so teaming up with someone they didn't as much before would definitely make for an interesting battle.
Spoiler:
Neopolitan is the 4th member, if that anime disguise was confusing anybody.

As for the next episode
Spoiler:
I'm actually not as confident that Team JNPR will get to the next round, but I'm hoping they do -- if only because their opponents look like throwaway characters. But eating big before doing ANYTHING big is always a stupid-ass idea. What the fuck, Pyrrha? You're supposed to be the smart one on the team!

Also, if they do win, I hope they also get an unusual choosing for their tag-team. They'd be stupid NOT to put their strongest (Pyrrha) as part of that, so I hope it's her and Ren.

Aldnoah.Zero was okay.

Spoiler:
A decent mech anime about people more than the mechs for once. No super saiyan moments, just skill vs. skill.

Finished reading the One Punch Man manga so I caught up with the anime adaptation.

Like everyone on the Internet has already mentioned, the most recent episode 9 is definitely the money episode -- not only in terms of character but in terms of what OPM is trying to get across. It's fun reading people analyze the varied interpretations and social commentaries the series is known for criticizing even amidst its humour and literal one-punch punchline. While the animation can never translate the jaw-dropping quality the manga had even with its amazingly slick animations, it brought to life the heart-pounding action and spirit of the series and that's what matters.

It also shows why Licenseless Rider (aka Mumen Rider) is my favourite hero.

Spoiler:

Not sure what you think I meant, because the show is great (actually, I'd say it's mostly better than Volume 1 and 2, which were incredibly flawed). I meant the shipping ship.

I started watching some Osomatsu-san, a pretty good revival of a series actually nobody knows about nowadays (can't say I did). A gag anime featuring sextuplets with all of them having different personalities but all of them being idiots in their own way. It's pretty fun and I've enjoyed it thoroughly up until what has been aired. Also the openings are pretty good.

Right now I'm waiting for Jojo part 4 and thinking of watching "boku dake ga inai machi" although I hear it's quite sad so I think I'll wait for it to end.

oh also I watched Anohana...god damn that ending...it killed me. Made me feel.

Recently finished One Punch, No. 6, and Shokugeki no Soma, about halfway through Samurai Champloo, watching Haikyuu!! ongoing as it comes out (but season 2 is almost done :( )

I have a list going, but any recommendations?

I recommend reading the Shokugeki no Soma manga instead, if you're interested. The earliest parts of Food Wars is fairly typical (or porn), and the only good part in S1 that got into the anime was the duel with Shinomiya. I've put off continued reading because of the meh early parts and only finished it into the current part recently, but the later parts are definitely some of the best -- and surprisingly educational -- shounen I've read.

Otherwise, hmm... Well, not sure what you've watched already, but there's the Valkyria Chronicles anime, Gargantia and Steins;Gate is on Netflix if you haven't watched it yet, and... well, RWBY.

Haven't seen any of those, although Steins;Gate is on my list. Actually I've started the Haikyuu!! manga as well, because my poor heart can't take only once a week of this, and I'll be without it for like a year soon. But I'll consider Shokugeki no Soma manga too.

I do recommend Steins;Gate, pretty great anime. You should watch it as soon as possible.

Also recommend reading the manga for One-Punch man, there are 2 versions of it: one extremely well drawn, and the webcomic. They are the same but the webcomic is more advanced in the story as the other one is using it as a base.

Yeah OPM seems to have a strange order of media and everything. But I enjoyed the anime. I was thinking maybe Psycho-Pass or Darker than Black next, but maybe Steins;Gate now.

Although have any of you seen Planetes, Gintama or Terror in Resonance? I've heard good things about the first two, but the third one apparently falls off like half way through (which sucks because I like the animation from the trailer).  But Samurai Champloo is good, almost done. Although I think I just finished episode 21? And the art style is completely different! Idk if it's like this till the end, but I think a different artist is drawing them, and it just feels off :(

Gintama is often known as one of the longest-running and being consistently-good/funny for BOTH the manga and anime. Unfortunately, it's also hella long but if 300 episodes doesn't bother you then by all means.

Terror in Resonance has a weird whiplash that's kind of hard to explain without spoiling. Never finished it, so I can't say if it ended good enough or not.

I found Psycho-Pass to be more shock-value rather than an honest attempt at telling a story, and I quit when it got into the incredibly-pretentious main villain. Any villain with a habit of quoting the Bible out of context, reading Nietzsche, being an artsy fuck, or playing the piano while making obnoxious quotes is something I can't believe exists as an overused cliche. But again, different strokes for different folks.

New spring anime releases are out! Woot!

Watching JoJo's Adventure 04: Diamond is Unbreakable, and yes -- I like typing out the whole thing. Production quality as always is excellent, soundtrack is once again top-notch, and I can't wait until the OP and ED actually show up next week. The art direction again is blind-man-awesome, and the entire town of Morioh is so FABULOUSLY PURPLE. Can't wait to see more.

The Ace Attorney anime also just came out, and Crunchyroll thankfully has an alt sub that uses the westernized names which makes it easier to follow for fans. The animation quality is fairly lacking and the opening is complete garbage, but the show still captures the awesomeness of exciting Ace Attorney courtroom action with its over-the-top characters and zany effects. Plus, it plays music from the games AND the ending song featuring Maya is pretty adorable. If you haven't played the games, the anime seems like a good way to get around that since it will be the following the first game's plot.

Welp. Haven't You Heard? I'm Sakamoto is done. Farewell, you beautiful beautiful man. Definitely the funniest anime I've seen... well, ever.

I hate to leave you, but it's time for you to go back to your home planet. Your people need you.
giphy.gif

Also watched Tales of Zestiria the X ('x' is pronounced 'Cross' because Japan doesn't know how to use that letter), and... huh. I'm surprised. THIS is what I hoped God Eater was going to be like, because this is Unlimited Budget Works right here.

Episode 1 was actually 'episode 0', a prologue that never happened in the game. Nice to see them expand on Alisha (shame the game kind of left her out until the DLC), and hopefully this will be a better telling of the story Zestiria was trying to tell. Because the game had an interesting lore to expand, it's just that it was bogged down by the fact that it's a Tales Of game and can't have good pacing to save its life. But hopefully ufotable knows how to fix that.

I got around to watching Mirai Nikki over the weekend, god damn those characters bored me

Spoiler:
It felt like Yukiteru never developed, he just stayed scared and stupid for the entire show. The part that really got me was when his dad killed his mom, and then was fine with it just 'cause he said he wanted to make things better. That's really all it took to win your forgiveness after leaving you, only coming back to break your shit to pay off a debt, leaving you for dead in a collapsing tower, and killing your mom? WHAT? Also killed all his friends 'cause he couldn't stop for 2 seconds and think why they might be telling him he can't bring people back to life.

Yuno's the same. Loves Yukiteru. Why? Who fucking knows, she's crazy. That's it. No other motivations or traits. I don't even want to know how many times she repeated something along the lines of "Abandon them and save ourselves."

I liked Uryu if only because she punched Yukiteru with her stump (I think). She ended up coming back to life and marrying Nishijima in the most obvious twist ever which annoyed me.

I've pretty much already forgotten about all the other characters.

Never watch/read anything by that writer. They're all the same grimdark edgelord stuff that's so emo you can hear it cut itself. Same writer did 'Big Order', which if you can believe it, is WAAAY worse.

Whenever I or someone else watches something terrible, the first question is always, 'It was bad, but was it Mirai Nikki bad?'

Watched 8 episodes of Re:Zero with some friends. I've been told it's popular, but I think it just isn't for me. Some episodes are literally the same thing as the previous one, with a boring reveal at the end. Spend an entire day meeting new characters, die at the end of the episode. Next episode, spend an entire day re-meeting characters, die at the end of the episode in a different way. Act surprised when the characters don't remember things even though the premise is dead easy to follow and has occurred multiple times already. The characters are all super generic too, although maybe that's the point? Like, they point out all these tropes and cliches in the writing but don't do anything to set them apart from any other generic anime character. I feel like by episode 8, the show should have gone somewhere, but so much of it has just been repeating the same scenes because the protagonist refuses to learn anything, that I feel like all the main plot points could have been covered in 2 or 3 episodes instead.

Been watching Mob Psycho 100. Already read the manga but the anime is doing such a good job on adapting it that I don't really care. The animation has an amazing style and the characters are pretty fucking good. If you liked One Punch Man, do check out Mob Psycho 100. In a way I like it more than OPM.

Also the new JoJo season. Their songs are godlike (but Koichi is still anooying even though I read the manga and I knew he was like that)
