I really dont like ANY of them. They are either too dark or too bright. I like IP-Duo because its got a nice in between Blue-Gray, but I dont really have any such option here. Too dark is preferable to too bright, so I have to vote Thoreau Dark. :/

It's a tie between Deflection and Thoreau: Dark for me.

I'll still use Simple Blue, though.

Simple Blue will also go away, I think. 3.0 skins don't have the features that we will be using in 3.1

Personal thoughts:

I personally like Velvet. It's fairly similar to the skin we have in place.

Agreed, except that seems a bit too bright to me.

I'm gonna have to say Velvet, Deflection or Thoreau: Dark. I really like Velvet's banners, but I like Deflection & Thoreau's topic icons. I really don't like the banner down the side of Graphite. Chameleon's harsh black-on-white contrast hurts my eyes. However, Thoreau: Dark and Deflection remind me of other forums that seemed to be trying to hard to be cool. So Velvet it is (even if it does remind me of the rather clinical Ubuntu forums).

Didn't mention that I think it's really important that the skin lets you tell one post from another really easilly, which IP-duo does and Graphite doesn't.

I prefer darker colors because they burn less my screen (and eyes!), and white letters are better IMO. But the comparison with "super cool" forums (like the Steam forums :( ) makes me cringe a bit. Isn't there any gray/middle ground option? Also, readabily is important.

I was split between the two Thoreaus. I went with the regular Thoreau because I thought it would be easier to read and I'm partial to blue.

I voted for Thoreau-Dark, but I also wish it were more blue. Dark is good for reading, but Thoreau-Dark is a bit too dark/dull/lifeless. Changing my vote to Velvet

EDIT: Neh, updated Simple Blue and Velvet looks good for me (I'll lower my screen's brightness,if I need).

EDIT2: Now I know how good the IP-Duo skin is. Like celestial_okami said, the other skins are too extreme (too bright or too dark).

I'm enjoying Graphite's minimal vertical spacing, but it's too bad there's no light-colored version. Thoreau's going to be my pick.

Edit: Unless I can work something out with Greasemonkey.

Graphite.

I'm a dark lover, gotta stay in my natural habitat :D

This but I prefer abit more variety so... Dark Thoreau gets my vote.

Can you not attempt to create your own skin, or edit this / one of the other themes?

Yeah, I'm gonna have to go with Thoreau: Dark. I like the whole layout, and it's just a little bit lighter than Graphite, which kind of did it visual-wise for me.

Graphite is my favorite, mostly because its compact. Note you can collapse the sidebar.

Yeah, that collapsable sidebar just made that skin a ton more awesome for me :3

Ah well. Anything dark suits my taste

I like deflection, also there's a thread called "anus" in the velvet one. it's asking for the most common size.

We have both Thoreau and Thoreau dark installed, we're still fixing it up, but its usable now if you guys want to switch to it.

It looks like Thoreau Dark won, and we decided to have Thoreau also as the bright alternative, since it was a discount if we buy both. The only one left we're going to add after this is Slate, for mobile phone users. Spending spree over.

I noticed the forum software you use is commercial too. There's plenty of free software out there (we toyed with phpBB, but went with SMF), can I ask your reason for choosing this software?

Thoreau-Dark is the new forum default skin, complete with sandvichly delicious new logo. If you're not a fan of dark skins, Thoreau-Dark's light colored counterpart is available by using the drop-down menu at the bottom of the page.

A handy feature available on all three of our new skins (Thoreau, Thoreau-Dark, and Graphite) is the ability to set the text size, typeface, and the color of the headers individually. Access this by clicking the small pallet icon (Posted Image) and play with it to your heart's content.

I'll update this with a few of the new features available after a bit.
