Lately there has been a phenomenon where:
main will be full, but with no admins and reserved slot holders. Then bacon will be empty, but eggs will be full, and have lots of admins and reserved slot people there.
I'd rather that main is where the regulars call home, so in an attempt to solve this, I'm making maxplayers look like this:

main - 16
bacon - 24
eggs - 24

I don't see a lot of benefit to 32 players now days, so none of the servers will have that.

As always, everything I do is an experiment, so this may change depending on the results.

awesome, I don't know about everyone else but the only reason I went to eggs was the lower player count most of the time

Oh man a lot of Main regulars are gonna be really mad. But I like the 24 player count change because TF2 wasn't designed for 32 players in mind to begin with. Most maps were created for 24 players.

But I wasn't expecting Main to be 16 players. I'm just curious about your decision on this more because I thought a lot admins already play on main.

I always played on Eggs because I preferred the smaller server size; now I have no reason to go there at all. Thanks ratty.

If they're a regular but without a slot, they can go to bacon or eggs, right now bacon is even empty. And yeah Valve hates 32 slot servers, and some maps will be a lot more playable and less stalemates with 24.

I'm glad the reaction (from the reserved slot people at least) is positive, main should be the VIP clubhouse.

I wasn't expecting main to go 16 slots, but this will be an interesting change nonetheless.

I suppsoe this is good, seeing as i dont play on bacon anymore.

But i liked eggs, but this is good i suppose. Just that i need to try to get people to come to bacon, or make it a server to idle on. :P

I love this, mainly because smaller team count is better most of the time.

On the other side of the coin, it means it'll take longer to get in. Oh wells, the wait is usually worth it :D

I too found the higher player count to be nigh unplayable and jumped on the eggs bandwagon. These changes get my seal of approval.

Although I enjoy the game at just about any playercount, I will wait and see how this ends up. Hopefully it ends up doing good.

I personally wasn't too fond of the small player count on eggs, even with the frequent regulars. I just hope main will still be the place for somewhat serious gameplay.

Either way, I'm not going anywhere. Always a main regular.

*edit after smyther* is 16 the absolute max, or are there still secret slots?

I'm really liking the sound of this change.

32 man can only really be played as a fun server. You can't really expect a good game from a 32 man server, yet main was supposed to be the most normal, the most serious of the servers.

When you say main is 16, is that the absolute player limit? I remember someone saying that eggs used to be 16 free slots, but was really a 32 player server, if you had enough reserve slot players online. Having a maximum of 18 players would conveniently allow for highlander teams.

On that note: Have you considered a highlander server? We're likely to change FBP to a highlander because you always get good balance. People complain about not being able to play the class they want, but playing new classes on a highlander server is much easier because of the balance enforced by having one per class. If you're left with spy, and you never play spy, you can still be effective because there will only be one enemy pyro and you will be the only spy on your team so the enemy won't be made paranoid by 2 other fail spies. If you medic, you can be sure there will only be one enemy sniper and you are guaranteed a heavy class to heal. You will never have 3 engies when blu on badwater, you will never be attacking 4 engies on hoodoo, you will rarely be a soldier on a team with no medic. The only danger is bad players going important classes, but then either they're willing to learn, or they're being useless.

EDIT: Though I'm mostly happy because all 3 servers have very playable sizes now. :)

A 16 person main full of regulars sounds amazing, the smaller player count on eggs helped with my ping and it was simply a more fun server because of the people on it.

I better start waiting in line RIGHT NOW to get into this cool kid party. C:
